International Women in Engineering Day 2024

Brought to you by the Women’s Engineering Society, International Women in Engineering Day is back for its annual event on 23rd June. With 2022 figures showing that only 16.5% of engineers are women, the international event helps to celebrate the amazing work of female engineers around the world, raising women’s profiles in the engineering industry and encouraging more young women and girls to take up engineering careers.

This year’s theme is ‘Enhanced by Engineering’ which aims to profile the ‘best, brightest and bravest women in engineering’, who have enhanced lives around the world thanks to their leading work in engineering.

Read on to see how City & Guilds Training are supporting women in engineering this International Women in Engineering Day and beyond.

At City & Guilds Training we are constantly working with industry to improve equal opportunities and diversity within the engineering industry. Our engineering training provider, Gen2, have a strong cohort of female engineers completing apprenticeships and progressing into careers in the engineering industry.

In aid of Women in Engineering Day, Gen2 will be hosting a roundtable event at our Workington centre giving our engineering apprentices the chance to network with our engineering tutors, discuss career opportunities in the engineering sector and find out what opportunities and variety of roles are available to them upon completion of their apprenticeship.

Through our Women in Engineering specific events and ongoing commitment to supporting our learners develop the skills they need to thrive we hope to ensure that there will be more ways for women to gain and progress in a career in the engineering industry.
