Who is the Green Upskill Package for?
Who is it for?
To be eligible for this package you must
This course is intended for practising electricians, generally those eligible for ECS Gold Card who wish to diversify in to green technologies. This package includes the following qualifications:
- City and Guilds Level 3 Electric Vehicle Charging Installations (2921-31)
- BPEC Solar PV Level 3 (BPEC 0018)
- BPEC Electrical Energy Storage Systems Level 3 (BPEC 0059)
Candidates will also undertake a short introduction to domestic retrofit to give an overview of the retrofit industry including key roles and options for property owners.
EV CAR CHARGING
This course covers the design, installation and maintenance of domestic and small commercial electric vehicle (EV) charging installations.
SOLAR PV INSTALLATION
This course covers the design, installation and maintenance of domestic and small commercial solar PV installations.
ELECTRICAL ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEMS
This course covers the design, installation and maintenance of domestic and small commercial electrical energy (battery) storage installations.

Introduction to Domestic Retrofit –
Covers how to assess dwellings for retrofit, identify
improvement options, design and specify energy
efficiency measures. This course goes hand in hand
with green skills and will give learners knowledge
of the subject area in order to deal with customer
questions about improving energy performance of
property.
EV Car Charging –
Aimed at existing electricians, supporting the
development of knowledge/understanding of electric
vehicle charging design and installations. Learners will
understand the specific requirements for the design
and installation of domestic and small commercial
electric vehicle charging installations.
Solar PV –
Aimed at existing electricians, supporting the
development of knowledge/understanding of Solar
PV installations. Learners will understand the specific
requirements for the design and installation of
domestic/small commercial solar PV installations.
Electrical Energy Storage Systems –
This qualification is aimed at existing electricians,
supporting the development of knowledge/
understanding of energy storage. Learners will
understand the specific requirements for design and
installation of domestic electrical energy storage
systems

Who are Skills Bootcamps for?
Skills Bootcamps are short and flexible training programmes which are subsidised by the Department for Education, which can last up to 16 weeks, based on employer and sector in-demand skills needs.
The Skills Bootcamps are aimed at adults, aged 19+, who are in full-time/part-time employment, unemployed or self-employed – and designed to meet the needs of employers and the wider economy with targeted training programmes to meet in-demand vacancies
Can I do a Skills Bootcamp if I am self-employed?
If you are self-employed you could still be eligible for funding if you can show that you will be able to take on new work or offer a new service once trained. If in doubt please fill out an application form and we will call you to discuss the options.
What is the eligibility for a Skills Bootcamp?
You may be eligible to apply for a Skills Bootcamp if you:
- are aged 19 or over
- have the right to work in the UK
- live in England
- meet residency requirements – the training provider can check this
- by doing the bootcamp, must create more work or opportunity for the candidate within that business
If you claim Universal Credit, you can apply and continue to claim benefits.
Some Skills Bootcamps have additional eligibility criteria. Contact the training provider to check if you’re eligible and apply for the course.
