Grandfather Rights Card (or the Industry Accreditation Card) will be phased out by the CLC (Construction Leadership Council) by 31st December 2024 as part of a wider industry initiative to enhance safety standards and competency. This imminent change to the construction industry could have an impact on your workforce in 2025. In this article, we discuss how you can avoid interruptions to your workforce’s ability to work on site in 2025.
What is the deadline for Industry Accreditation (IA) Cards?
The deadline for IA Cards issued from January 2020 will be invalid from 31st December 2024. For any older cards the deadline has now passed (30th June 2024). This initiative aims to enhance and improve safety standards and competency across the industry.
What do these changes mean for you?
- Compliance Mandate: The Construction Leadership Council (CLC) now requires all construction workers to hold a recognised qualification.
- Potential Disruptions: Without a valid qualification, your workforce may be unable to work on site from 2025 onwards.
